Help us to support a young family in their fight against deportation, persecution and torture. Related to members of the opposition, Mr and Mrs Kazadi were both kidnapped, imprisoned and tortured in their native Katanga. Beaten daily, kept with very little food and no sanitation….there is little doubt that had they not escaped when they did, Mr and Mrs Kazadi (pregnant at the time with their daughter) would soon have been killed or died from starvation and torture. The couple arrived in 2005 to rebuild their lives, soon after Mr Kazadi got a job; Benita was born and then Sephora here later and the family have since become valued, integrated and popular members of the Belfast Community. If deported to the DR Congo-officially the second most dangerous country where more than 6 millions people have perished and 1500 are dying every day - our friends face arrest and torture upon arrival merely for seeking asylum. There is well documented history of disappearance of deportees in the DR Congo- add to this the family and their extremely unpopular relations and it is abundantly clear: the Kazadis cannot return to the Democratic Republic of Congo
